| Frequently Asked Questions |
What is PHPCamp?PHPCamp is a unconference where anyone can come and participate. This is similar in concept to barcamp but it is focused towards php developers. This is a platform for php developers to share their knowledge with each other. PHPcamp is as much fun as you can make it. Be prepared to lead or participate in a session, ask interesting questions. Why should I come?If you are a php developer, then the answer is very simple, so that you can meet 100's of other developer and talk to them about your problems and share the knowledge. If you want to show off what you're working on, and generally leave your mark on the weekend and fellow developers. If you are starting out, then this is a great chance for you to check if PHP is a good choice for career or not. If you work alongside php developers then it will help you understand them better. Do I need to bring anything? Not really, but bringing a laptop could be a good idea. Memory Stick/thumb drive (if you have one: for transfering presentations, demo code, etc). Just be ready to participate. What is "Law of Two Feet"?Wikipedia states it as "If at any time during our time together you find yourself in any situation where you are neither learning nor contributing, use your two feet. Go to some other place where you may learn and contribute" The purpose of this last 'law' is to emphasize that no one should sit to sessions that are boring to them; instead the discussions should only be attended by people who genuinely interested in the topic at hand. I want to help, how can I do it?Perfect, there are many ways you can do it.
Why you didn't use a wiki?Well, we think that wiki's are bit hard to manage, and most of people find it difficult to use, and anyways it does take much to create a website to the basic stuff which is easy to manage. Why email address are not being displayed?Few companies(for example Xento systems) are tying to abuse the listed email address. We don't think the PHPCamp's list should be used for job's releated spam. Hence we removed the email address from general list.If you have any concerns you can contact any event planner. Why website feels so incomplete? This is because we believe in "release early and release often" mantra. It means that we wanted to get the community feedback about the event as soon as possible. So instead of waiting for months to get the website perfect, we decided to give the community a place where we can interact, ASAP. we will be building new features and improving the website as we go. If you can help us improve things fast contact any event planner or let us know via google groups .
